Anthony Goodwin & Max Frost, Jimmy Goodwin & Aaron Wheatley, Rob Christie & Robert Whitehorn won the Singles 85-59, with Anthony, Jimmy, Aaron, Robert and Rob Christie each winning their matches; then the team won the Doubles 60-58 which took the score to 145-117. We look forward to arranging a return match next term at Derby Moor.

Jimmy Goodwin & Max Frost, Rob Christie & Aaron Wheatley took on the Oundle U15 IV and won 84-63. Max, Rob and Aaron won their Singles for a lead of 39-23. Then Jimmy helped Max to add another 5 points in the Doubles, while Rob and Aaron tied theirs on points. Meanwhile in the Seniors Ashley Hill & Anthony Goodwin beat the Oundle 1st pair 11-8, 11-5 and the 2nd pair 11-7, 11-2.

Emma Howie lost in the Final of the Singles to defending champion Claire Knowles, and in the Final of the Doubles (with Irene Bravo) to defending champions Claire Knowles & Melanie Whitehead.

18 players from DMF, the Manchester Y Club, the Halifax White Rose Club and the Alleyn Old Boys contested the title. Dave Hebden & Max Frost (DMF U14) beat Phil Bishop & Jimmy Goodwin (DMF U14) in one semi-final, while Ashley Hill & Bob Sandie beat Richard Christie & Ian Roberts in the other. Hill & Sandie won a tough final 11-3, 11-5. Brian Kirk & Anthony Goodwin won Plate A, Tim Widdop & Matt Gilbert Plate B. Grem McIntyre & Robert Grey won the Wooden Spoon by default!

Winning, and defending, both the Singles and the Doubles (with Melanie Whitehead) in the Ladies Winchester Fives championship at Sedbergh. Next target: the Mixed Doubles with Stuart!

Stuart & Brian won the Doubles Plate for the 3rd time, beating David Hebden and Keith Puckle 15-2,15-8.
28th March 2008, St. Paul's, Barnes
After 4 days of competition at St Paul's Ashley Hill & Anthony Goodwin justified their Nr 1 seeding by beating the St Paul's 1st pair (on their home courts) 11-5, 2-11, 12-10 to win the National U16 (Colts) Doubles championship. They saved one match point at 8-10, then Ashley hit four consecutive winners. They have won a magnificent solid silver trophy (the largest in the sport!) and individual tankards. In the Singles Anthony got to the last 8, Ashley to the semi-finals, both losing narrowly to the top St. Paul's players. They returned home bruised and sore but very chuffed. Rob Christie and Robert Whitehorn competed for DMF. They each came 4th in their singles pool and 4th in their doubles pool. Good experience for next year when they are the right age.

1st Round of the Wood Cup (Club Knockout). Stuart Kirby & Ashley Hill, Clive Butler & Robert Grey lost 51-120 to a team of Sutcliffe, Marshall, Widdup and Sandie.

Brian Kirk & Clive Butler reach the quarter-final where they lose to Mohammed and Ackerman.
8th March 2008, Radley College, Oxfordshire
A four consisting of Bob Dolby, Anthony Goodwin, Diogo Norte and Jimmy Goodwin represented the RFA against the Radley 1st IV. After the Singles, which included a hard-fought 15-16 defeat for Jimmy, we were one point down, and after the first set of Doubles the deficit had increased to three. Diogo and Jimmy managed to get 10 points off their opponents while Bob and Anthony won 11-0, 11-3. Overall result: a win 101-97
27th January 2008, Manchester Y Club
Stuart Kirby & Ashley Hill, Brian Kirk & Clive Butler entered. Stuart & Ashley were knocked out in the second round by Hamish Buchanan & Ben Taberner. The tournament was won for the third year running by ex-DMF member Phil Bishop, playing with Ed Fuller.
19th January 2008, Oundle
Lost 125-151. Playing in the name of the RFA as usual, Stuart Kirby & Ashley Hill, Brian Kirk & Clive Butler took on a Cambridge IV consisting of Richard Lebon & Charles Compton, Alqahir Ladak & Anand Ashok. We lost the Singles 33-61 but won the Doubles 91-90, with Stuart & Ashley winning all 4 games.
