The 1st Derby Moor Invitation Doubles Tournament

Derby, Saturday 26th June 2004

Our courts were officially opened with an Invitation Tournament to which several of the top players in the country were invited. The British Number One, Hamish Buchanan, played, as did the then National Singles Champion, Phil Bishop, an ex-member of Derby Moor Fives who helped in the initial stages of refurbishment. The eventual winners were John East and Phil Bishop with William Gagie and Grem McIntyre winning the Plate.

Hamish was able to come early and play some games with the Junior Club and was a great inspiration to them. We are very grateful to the many players from other clubs came to take part in our day and grace our courts.
